La fus\u00e9e SLS de la NASA s&rsquo;est arrach\u00e9e du pas de tir 39B du Centre spatial Kennedy, emportant quatre astronautes dans une capsule baptis\u00e9e <em>Integrity<\/em>. Direction : la Lune.<br><br><strong>Quatre noms \u00e0 retenir<\/strong><br>\u00c0 bord, l&rsquo;\u00e9quipage d&rsquo;Artemis II a marqu\u00e9 l&rsquo;histoire en posant le pied, symboliquement, dans une nouvelle \u00e8re. Reid Wiseman, commandant. Victor Glover, pilote. Christina Koch et le Canadien Jeremy Hansen, sp\u00e9cialistes de mission. Trois Am\u00e9ricains et un Canadien, premi\u00e8re fois qu&rsquo;un non-Am\u00e9ricain s&rsquo;aventure aussi loin de notre plan\u00e8te. Christina Koch est aussi devenue la premi\u00e8re femme \u00e0 voyager au-del\u00e0 de l&rsquo;orbite terrestre.<br><br><strong>Un voyage de dix jours, 400 000 kilom\u00e8tres<\/strong><br>La mission n&rsquo;avait pas pour objectif d&rsquo;aluner  ce sera le r\u00f4le d&rsquo;Artemis III, pr\u00e9vue en 2027. Artemis II \u00e9tait un vol d&rsquo;essai habit\u00e9 : tester la capsule Orion, son syst\u00e8me de support de vie, sa capacit\u00e9 \u00e0 ramener l&rsquo;\u00e9quipage sain et sauf. Apr\u00e8s une orbite haute autour de la Terre pour v\u00e9rifier tous les syst\u00e8mes, le vaisseau a entam\u00e9 son voyage vers la Lune.<br><br>Le 6 avril, Orion a survol\u00e9 la face cach\u00e9e de la Lune \u00e0 6 545 kilom\u00e8tres d&rsquo;altitude. L&rsquo;\u00e9quipage a alors battu le record de distance jamais atteinte par des humains : 406 771 kilom\u00e8tres de la Terre. Pendant une quarantaine de minutes, coup\u00e9s de tout contact radio, ils ont contempl\u00e9 un paysage qu&rsquo;aucun \u0153il humain n&rsquo;avait vu depuis Apollo 17.<br><br><strong>Un retour r\u00e9ussi<\/strong><br>Le 10 avril, la capsule a amerri dans l&rsquo;oc\u00e9an Pacifique au large de San Diego, \u00e0 20h07 heure locale. Mission accomplie. Au-del\u00e0 de la prouesse technique, Artemis II a valid\u00e9 l&rsquo;architecture qui permettra, dans les ann\u00e9es \u00e0 venir, le retour d&rsquo;astronautes sur le sol lunaire \u2014 puis, \u00e0 terme, les premi\u00e8res missions habit\u00e9es vers Mars.<br><br><strong>Pourquoi \u00e7a compte<\/strong><br>Artemis n&rsquo;est pas une simple r\u00e9p\u00e9tition d&rsquo;Apollo. Le programme s&rsquo;inscrit dans une vision de long terme : installation d&rsquo;une base lunaire durable, exploitation de ressources sur place, station orbitale lunaire (Gateway), et pr\u00e9paration de l&rsquo;humanit\u00e9 \u00e0 devenir une esp\u00e8ce multi-plan\u00e9taire.
